EA Global: San Francisco 2027

The EA Summit Paris 2026 will take place on __5 Dec 2026__ in Paris, France, at Espace Saint-Martin (199 bis Rue Saint-Martin, Paris 3e).



### Why this Summit?

Some ways of doing good help far more than others – and it is possible to find out which. This simple, surprising idea is the starting point of effective altruism (EA): a global community of people who use evidence and careful reasoning to work out how to help others as much as possible, through their donations, their careers or their projects.

The Summit is a one-day event built around a conviction: this way of thinking is best discovered through people. Throughout the day, you will hear members of the community share their inspiring career journeys, explain how and why they became involved in a specific area they've chosen to focus on, and they'll be around afterward to answer questions.


### Who is this for?

The Summit brings together two audiences:

- __New to effective altruism__ – you've read something, heard a podcast, or had a colleague mention it, and you want to find out whether the idea actually holds up: is this a genuinely better way to think about where your time, giving, or career could do more good. No background is required, and scepticism is fine. What a podcast can't give you is a room of people who've already made these calls and will tell you honestly what worked and what didn't.

- __Familiar with effective altruism__ – you already know the movement and want to strengthen your network, meet peers from the French-speaking and English-speaking communities, and play an active role in welcoming newcomers: hosting a table, facilitating an exercise, sharing your own trajectory.

The event is bilingual: every session is labelled FR or EN, except for the opening and closing, which will be subtitled. We're aiming for sessions in English to be of the same standard as those in French. Bilingual participants simply choose whichever room suits them.

### What to expect – and what not to

To set expectations clearly: you will not leave with all the answers. The Summit is designed as a starting point, not a destination. Our goal is that you leave curious, having met people you want to see again, and having chosen one concrete next step, on your own terms: a reading group, a one-on-one conversation, an introductory programme, a future event.

Your day will be punctuated by opportunities to listen, to engage in discussion (with the ambassadors and the nonprofits in attendance) and to reflect. We aim to make the experience as rewarding as possible, whilst giving you the space to take in what you learn throughout the day.

__For those interested in volunteering we recommend aiming to arrive in Melbourne on Friday morning for training and setup from midday Friday.__

### Cost

Attendance at the conference is by donation, with a suggested donation of £100 (~$200AUD) for most attendees.

If you are a student or facing financial hardship, we suggest a donation of £30 (~$60AUD) though we encourage you not to donate if you don’t feel able.

Conference attendance includes lunch & morning/afternoon tea on Saturday & Sunday, and light refreshments on Friday night. All other food over the weekend will be attendees' responsibility and cost.

### Travel assistance

Funding will be available to support travel to the conference for those that would not be able to attend otherwise. The maximum support available will depend on your location, with more available for greater distances within Australia and New Zealand.  In some cases, we might not be able to pay for all of your travel expenses. If you do not end up receiving travel support, this is likely the result of limited funds rather than an evaluation of your potential for impact.

Geneva is a city built on international cooperation, and this summit is for people here who want to think deeply about how to do the most good with the resources they have. You'll hear from inspiring speakers who have built their careers around that question, and leave motivated by the ideas and the community you’ve connected with

- Sessions built around real decisions rather than surveys of causes – how people weigh trade-offs and choose where their work will matter most.
- Frameworks for weighing trade-offs and judging impact, drawn from how people apply them across their work.
- Peers who changed career, or changed how they work, to do more good: what the move cost them, what surprised them, what they'd do differently. The stories span global health to AI safety, humanitarian response to animal welfare.
- Structured 1-1s and small groups where the conversation centres on your own career or work, not a general Q&A.
- One concrete next step to leave with – a specific opportunity, a connection, or something to try in your current role on Monday.

### About the Summit

The Effective Altruism Istanbul Summit 2026 will take place on October 24, 2026, at HAN Spaces Etiler in Istanbul.

Effective altruism is a philosophy and social movement focused on finding the most effective ways to solve the world’s biggest problems—such as global poverty, animal welfare, and catastrophic risks from artificial intelligence. This event will bring together members of Effective Altruism Turkey and is aimed at both individuals who have been engaging with EA principles for a long time, and those who are just beginning to explore how they can make a greater impact through their careers, time, and donations.

Application deadline: 27th September 2026 (11:59pm ET). All applications for this event will receive a response by 7th October 2026 at the latest. Most applications receive a response within two weeks.

## Approximate schedule

The event will begin with an opening reception on Friday (but you can arrive at any time during the weekend). Saturday and Sunday will have full-day schedules with content finishing at around 6pm on Sunday evening.

### About the event

EA Summit Warsaw will take place on __3 October 2026__ at the __POLIN Conference Centre in Warsaw__.

It is a one-day conference for people who want to contribute more effectively to solving the world's most pressing challenges.

How can you use your career, time, or donations to do the most good? Which global challenges are especially important today? And how can we use evidence and careful reasoning to decide where our efforts can have the greatest impact?

These are the kinds of questions explored by __effective altruism__ – an approach that combines the desire to help others with evidence and critical thinking in order to address the most important challenges of our time more effectively. During the event, we will explore how these ideas can be translated into concrete decisions and actions.

### Who Is This Event For?

This event is for anyone who wants to do good as effectively as possible, whether through their career, their time, or their donations.

No prior knowledge of effective altruism is required. We welcome people who are completely new to these ideas, as well as those who've already started exploring them.

This event is a good fit if you're:

- Completely new to effective altruism, and curious how its ideas could shape decisions about your career, time, or donations.
- An early-career professional wondering whether your skills could be doing more good somewhere else.
- An experienced member of the effective altruism community, keen to share your experience, insights and network with other people.
- A specialist with relevant expertise, including in policy, public or nonprofit sector work, regardless of your familiarity with effective altruism, keen to bring that knowledge into sessions and discussions.

- talks on some of the world's most pressing challenges,
- workshops focused on turning ideas into action,

## Programme

EAGxOxford runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening (25 to 27 September). The weekend combines structured sessions with plenty of open time for 1:1s and small-group conversations. Across the three days you can expect:

- Talks and panels from leading speakers spanning the major cause areas, including AI safety, biosecurity and global catastrophic risks, global health and development, and animal welfare, alongside sessions on cross-cutting questions like cause prioritisation and reasoning under uncertainty.

- Workshops and speaker office hours geared towards concrete next steps, whether that is planning a high-impact career, scoping a new project, or building a specific skill.

- Meetups for particular cause areas, professional backgrounds, and interest-based groups, so it is easier to find the people working on what you care about.

EA Summit: Wellington is a one-day conference for people from across Aotearoa New Zealand who are interested in using reason and evidence to find the most effective ways to help others, and want to connect with people and organisations putting those ideas into practice.

This year’s Summit will be held on the __19th of September__ at Tiakiwai Conference Centre in the National Library of New Zealand, Wellington.

Whether you’re completely new to [effective altruism](https://www.effectivealtruism.org/) or already actively involved, the Summit is an opportunity to explore big global challenges, hear from people working on them, and connect with others who care about having a meaningful impact.

The Summit programme will run between 9am and 5:30pm on Saturday 19th September.

There will be opportunities to explore a range of topics including:

- Animal welfare
- AI safety and existential risk
- Cause prioritisation and decision-making

- Using your career to have a positive impact

The day will include talks, workshops, and plenty of opportunities for discussion and networking.

Alongside the main conference, we’re planning community events in Wellington on Friday evening and Sunday, plus an optional post-Summit dinner on Saturday night.

EAGxSingapore 2026

EA Summit: Buenos Aires will take place on 29 August in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Raggio Palace Museum, Gaspar Campos 861, Buenos Aires.

EA Summit: Buenos Aires is Argentina's first dedicated effective altruism (EA) conference, bringing together students, researchers, entrepreneurs, professionals, nonprofit leaders, and policymakers who are interested in using evidence and careful reasoning to have a greater positive impact on the world. Whether you're new to effective altruism or have been engaging with its ideas for years, this one-day summit offers a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and explore some of the world's most pressing challenges alongside a growing community of impact-driven individuals from Argentina.

The summit will be conducted in Spanish.


### Application Process

1. __Complete a short application (~5 minutes)__. We collect basic information about your background, interests, and motivation for attending. Prior knowledge of effective altruism is not required. We welcome applicants who are curious about how to make a meaningful difference through their careers, projects, research, or donations.

2. __Our team will review your application__. We aim to respond within 14 days. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early.

3. __Register for the conference (~5 minutes)__. If accepted, you will receive an email with instructions to complete your registration and confirm your attendance. At this stage, you will also be able to indicate dietary requirements, accessibility needs, and interest in volunteering.

There is no registration fee to attend EA Summit: Buenos Aires. The event, meals, and conference materials will be provided at no cost. Travel support is limited and may not be available for all participants. Attendees should plan to cover their own transportation and accommodation expenses unless otherwise specified.

The agenda for EA Summit: Buenos Aires will include:

- __Introductory talks__ providing an accessible introduction to effective altruism, its core ideas, and major cause areas.
- __Panels and presentations__ exploring some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity, including global health and development, animal welfare, emerging technologies, global catastrophic risks, and improving decision-making for social impact.
- __Career-focused sessions__ designed to help participants identify opportunities to increase their impact through their professional paths, research, entrepreneurship, or community-building efforts.
- __Discussions and Q&A sessions__ featuring experts, practitioners, and leaders working across high-impact fields.
- __Informal opportunities to connect with other attendees__ and learn from people with diverse experiences and perspectives.

Our speakers will include leading voices from Argentina, Latin America, and the Spanish-speaking effective altruism community. EA Summit: Santiago 2026 es una conferencia de un día sobre altruismo eficaz (effective altruism), organizada principalmente para reunir a profesionales de cualquier disciplina que quieran utilizar sus habilidades, experiencia y recursos para generar un mayor impacto positivo. Tanto si recién estás conociendo el altruismo eficaz como si ya trabajas en desafíos de impacto social, el evento es una oportunidad para aprender, conectar con otras personas y descubrir oportunidades concretas para seguir involucrándote.

## Programme

EAGxBerkeley 2026 will take place on __21-23 August 2026__ in Berkeley, California at Lighthaven.

EAGxBerkeley ’26 is an effective altruism (EA) conference organised especially for the Bay Area and broader US West Coast EA communities. Whether you’re just starting to explore EA ideas or have spent years working in a priority cause area, this conference is an opportunity to connect with people and organisations in the community, exchange ideas, and discover actionable ways to have a larger impact.

## Who is the event for

EAGxBerkeley prioritises attendees from the Bay Area and the broader US West Coast, while also welcoming experienced EAs from elsewhere who can contribute useful perspectives and mentorship.

The event is ideal for people who: :

- Have spent some time engaging with the core ideas of effective altruism and want to apply them more seriously in your career or projects.
- Are already involved in an EA-aligned organisation or local group and want to deepen your network in the Bay Area.
-  Are exploring high-impact career paths and would like to meet potential collaborators, mentors, or employers.
- Are an experienced practitioner in a relevant field (e.g. AI, biosecurity, global health, policy, movement-building) and want to share expertise and support others.
- If you’re thinking hard about how to do the most good with your time and resources, EAGxBerkeley is designed for you.


## Travel assistance

Please note that travel support funds are limited and we can only accommodate some requests. In some cases, we might not be able to pay for all of your travel expenses. If you do not end up receiving travel support, this is likely the result of limited funds rather than an evaluation of your potential for impact. ## Program

The conference will run from Friday evening through Sunday evening (21–23 August), with a mix of structured content and informal time for 1:1s and small-group conversations.

You can expect:

- An Opportunity Fair on Friday evening with chances to talk to many EA organizations, all with current job openings or other ways to engage with the professional community.
- Talks and panels on key EA cause areas and cross-cutting themes (e.g. prioritisation, uncertainty, community-building)
- Workshops and office hours focused on concrete next steps (career planning, project design, upskilling)
- Meetups for specific cause areas, professional backgrounds, and identity-based or interest-based subcommunities
- 1:1 meetings and small-group chats, coordinated via the Swapcard app, to help you meet people working on similar problems
- We are collaborating with [Create For Good](https://luma.com/ghnew59o), a Saturday evening at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco that includes dinner, networking, and a screening of EA short films. Approved EAGxBerkeley registrants will receive a discount code and the option to sign up for complimentary transportation to/from Create for Good and the EAGx venue. __EAGxBerkeley welcomes attendees to continue networking at Lighthaven on Saturday evening if they elect to not attend Create For Good, but no dinner will be served at Lighthaven and all programming will end by 4:30.__
